Choosing Cosy But Sassy Winter Wardrobes

When the nights start drawing in it's time to pack away your flip flops and summer dresses, but that doesn't mean you have to say goodbye to all of your most attractive clothes. You may have to cover up more than you do during the summer months, but it's easy to make sure you're not swamped in winter woolies that make you feel frumpy and fed up. Keep cosy without losing your vibe this winter by choosing figure complementing styles and slipping into some of the latest fashion trends.

Of course, you have to cover up more when the chilly weather appears, but who says layers can't be attractive? In fact, by layering your clothes cleverly - a little silk with your woollens, a splash of lace under your denims - you can turn up the heat without flashing your flesh. The main thing to remember when piling on your winter favourites is that if you're going to mix and match, try and keep your layers thin for the most part, to avoid giving yourself a bulky appearance.

Another good way to keep cosy is to invest in a couple of high quality chunky cardigans. Ideal for teaming with skinny jeans or close fitting skirts, you can create a nice contrast between your tight innerwear and thick outerwear. Be wary about wearing your thick cardigan when you'll also be needing your winter coat though, or you could end up bearing a striking resemblance to the Michelin Man.

In the winter, tights are your best friend. From 40 denier to thick woollen knits, stock up your drawers with plenty of tights before the big chill arrives. With a suitable pair of tights, you can transform many of your summer and autumn outfits into ones you can rock on the winter streets. Wear thick tights with short shorts and a pair of ankle boots, modify a summary print dress by putting on a pair of cable knit tights underneath and brighten up drab skirts and jumpers by pulling on some brightly coloured tights.

Your winter coat can make or break your mood, so be sure to try and find a flattering, tailored version that will keep you looking shapely while staving off the cold. An empire waist wool coat or a double-breasted peacoat will be a great choice, as both can be easily dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

A perfect solution for chilly days where you want a simple yet sassy outfit is a jumper dress. Clinging to your curves and showing off your figure, this is perfect for making you feel attractive, while the wool will keep you nice and cosy too. Wear with plain tights (knitted varieties tend to look overly fussy when teamed with a jumper dress and a pair of calf or knee high boots for a winter look that's ideal for staying cosy whether you're at your desk or sipping hot chocolate at the side of an ice skating rink.
