How to Group Your Dresses Together

While you must hang all of your dresses together, it doesn't matter if they are all the way to the left of your closet or to the right. Put them where there won't be anything underneath, so they can hang free and clear without touching anything.

Group dresses by length first, and then by color. Hang the longest and dressiest dresses all the way to one side of your closet. You will probably wear these least often (it's not every day you are attending a black tie affair). From there, continue to hand your dresses according to length. Next will be your tea-length dresses, and then those that are just below and above the knee (which will likely be the ones you wear the most often, now easier to see and reach).Within each length category, organize as best you can by color. You might have mostly black or you might have a wider variety of colors. Either way, group them in color blocks from dark to light or light to dark - all the black together, blue, on down to white. Easy so far, right?

Next to the shorter dresses, hand your blouses. If you are not wearing a dress, your next option is a top and either a skirt or pants. So logically your tops come next. Group first by style - long-sleeve, short-sleeve, and sleeveless, either in that order or reversed. You guessed it: Once sorted by style, they should be grouped next by color. Dark to light or light to dark.

Up next, your skirts. Again, group by length (this time short to long) and then by color. Why short to long this time? Well, we want to have your longest items closest to the outer edges of your closet so that in the middle (under the tops and short skirts) there is room below for shoes. You haven't forgotten about your beloved shoes, have you? Oh, and if you have built-in shoe racks or shelves, or some other fabulous setup for your shoes, excuse us - we are speaking here to the rest of us who are not as fortunate as you.

Next up, slacks. Yup, dark to light. You are getting the hang of it! If you are hanging your jeans, it is your choice whether they come before or after the slacks. Either way, jeans together and slacks together. Group jeans by color wash - dark denim on down to your white jeans.

Right next to your pants, hand your blazers. We know, these are short, but chances are you have only a few of these and they are the last thing you put on, so mentally, it is nice to have these at the end.

Based on recent surveys, the majority of women struggle with finding dresses that fit and flatter. You don't have to be one of them! Visit: plus size mother of groom dresses for your guide to finding your best-fitting dresses for mother of the groom.
