Curves Are In This Winter

Striving to be thin is a characteristic which is present amongst the World's many nations and cultures. Beauty is perceived differently in many cultures yet a lot of them share the same belief that thin is a popular trend in order to be beautiful. Although this may be true, the initial idea of what is thin and what is not has differed throughout the eras and has eventually come to the point where what is seen as thin is unhealthy.

Models play a huge part in the weight problem across the globe and they upset and corrupt the minds of many people to what is pretty, thin and stylish. In the 1950s and earlier models had a healthy BMI for their height and generally had a shapely body for example Marilyn Monroe who was a size 12. A size 12 in this modern day would be frowned upon across the fashion industry since the influence of the 91 pound Twiggy in the 1960s and the introduction of 'heroin chic'. 'Heroin chic' is generally the look in the 90s where it was fashionable to have a similar physique to someone who is a regular heroin user.

It is no secret that models have become skinnier over the years, what is seen as glamorous today is in fact women who have an unhealthy BMI for their weight. In my personal opinion I believe that the size 0 is inhumane and wrong on many levels and further promotes the anorexic and bulimic lifestyle. Spain has recently brought in a restriction of weight to models on the runway and have pushed that models with a BMI of under 18 are too thin. This recent turn in the fashion industry could potentially be a revolution for men and women's influence from the media.

Designers are more knowledgeable about the fact that curves are pulchritudinous and they have realised that real women are curvy thus presenting and supporting this throughout their designs. Lauren Vidal is a perfect example in fashion when she brought out a brand new collection which included sizes of up to XXL which is the equivalent to a size 18 and beyond.

Winter is nigh and it is important that you stock up on warm clothes as we had a cold one last year and British weather is typically unpredictable. It is a fact that people generally put on weight during the Christmas season and Lauren Vidal produces innovative designs for all shapes and sizes. Her collections make it easier to feel stylish and gorgeous even when you pile on them extra pounds during the winter - so it is okay to have a feast this Christmas and still feel gorgeous.

It is also a proven fact that most men prefer curvier women after many surveys which have been carried out asking men the same question. Lauren Vidal clothing promotes this and provides clothing to make women look and feel sexier with curves and should not feel the pressure to be thin.
